On the Farm

If you like being outdoors, meeting new and interesting people, and learning more about where your food comes from, you’ll love volunteering at the Urban Roots farm! No experience is required to volunteer; we will train you on everything you need to know. This is a great opportunity to work on the land, support our youth program, and help us grow food for the Austin community.

Weekly Volunteer Mornings

We rely on volunteer support, especially in the spring and fall when our youth are attending school. Every Tuesday and Thursday morning, farm volunteers help us with planting, harvesting, preparing produce for market, and whatever else needs to be done. Farm Volunteer Mornings are held regularly and typically last about three to four hours. No RSVP Required; just show up at the farm!

Community Volunteer Saturdays

If you would like to meet Urban Roots’ youth Farm Interns, learn about the program, and help us on the farm all at the same time, come to a Community Volunteer Saturday! On these special days, our youth Farm Interns lead volunteers through the tasks for the day and talk about their experience in the program. Community Volunteer Saturdays are held in the late spring and summer and typically last about four hours. Remember, space is limited at Community Volunteer Saturdays! You MUST RSVP to attend!
